Omissions on my part: The symptoms are network wide, but only when the MacBook is connected. I may try to turn DHCP off for awhile and check that too. OK so I looked at the documentation and admin portal, my Netgear WND3800 doesn't have a Lease Expiration time setting. This may cause your Router's "network-visible" IP Address to change fairly often. When the lease expires, your Router would lose its Internet connection, and would have to request an IP Address from your ISP again. Six hours is shorter than it should be, but it is entirely possible, especially if they are over-configured. Similarly, the IP Address lease issued FOR your Router FROM your ISP may use a similar system. Cycling the power on your Router will randomize it to a different time-of-day. Randomizing this value to a longer, odder value may change your symptoms. A typical value is 24 hours (1440 minutes). You can change this parameter in your Router. If this time is too short, your lease may terminate in too short a time, such as every six hours. Using DHCP, your computers are each granted a "lease" on a particular local IP Address for a certain period of time. ![]() There is a lot of equipment involved that could have timed network features. While it is possible that Apple products are causing your troubles, it is by no means a certainty. ![]()
